The Youth School for Social Entrepreneurs (YSSE), registered in Bangladesh, works in 21 different countries directly benefiting over 15000 youths on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, especially against child marriages and gender violence. – Rakibul Hasan, Founder at Peacempire
Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

Since 2013, Youth School for Social Entrepreneurs (YSSE) implemented 06 projects, 23 advocacy events, 19 campaigns, 35 workshops, 16 seminars and 11 rallies on leadership and social entrepreneurship, which also covers wider aspects of Family Planning and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). YSSE has implemented its projects among a total of 85 villages in all 8 divisions of Bangladesh and beyond in 21 countries, including India, Nepal, Burundi and Zimbabwe.
Among others, Power of One magazine, Shempower and Youth Leadership projects empowered 30000 young women, aged upto 30 years providing entrepreneurial, technical and legal supports and awareness against gender based violence in the rural/urban areas of Bangladesh.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Due to poor Family Planning practices, I've witnessed my graduate sisters and cousins become simple housewife who serve all day long in the family, but do not receive any recognition. Thus these educated, but unemployed women in the household become dependent upon their male counterparts and many of them suffer violence and get divorced in the subsequent consequences. Thinking of my sisters and cousins, YSSE brings forth Family Planning agenda to address #EveryWomenEverywhere across the nation.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

As a founder of one of the largest young platform in Bangladesh, I play a role of strategist bringing together people and partners for the entrepreneurial cause to empower women to practice Family Planning. I coordinated the global YSSE teams to monitor and evaluate their activities and provide technical supports to the coordinators of all 21 countries.
In the Peacempire project, I led the PR and Communication to liaise with partners to grow it into the largest SRHR movement in Narayanganj.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

In 2016, I had an opportunity to campaign in 120under40. To me, the chance of competing in the race would be very prestigious to represent the new generation of family planning leaders in Bangladesh. If I win or whatever, we would continue to do everything in our best capacity to trend Family Planning practices among young generation as a top priority.

I'll use $1000 grant to incubate ideas to launch startups on Family Planning practices and services from the entrepreneurial perspectives.
