Using Youth Go Budget (YGB) Mobile app, He has mobilized 4002 (2011 M, 1991 F) youths to engage in Governance, Accountability,Participation,Performance (GAPP) to advocate for increased health financing focusing on youth friendly health priorities. – Nominator
Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

78% of the population is below 30 years. And Uganda is the 3rd country in the world with highest teenage pregnancy rate of 24.5%.For every dollar spent on family planning, we save 5 dollars treating complications from unsafe abortions. As an SRHR advocate, I developed Youth Go Budget Mobile app a Civic tech used to engage in evidence based budget advocacy for SRHR commodities and services. So far, 4002 (2011 Male,1991 female) youth voices were collected, built capacity of 350 elected youth leaders and 150 Community based Organisations to advocate for budget allocation to SRHR services, including family planning, information, and education and advocated for an enabling environment by influencing the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

being the second last born out of 8 children, growing up was very challenging in a growing economy and worse of in the rural areas with limited access to basic services such as health and education, as i kept growing up i used to imagine how my single mother struggled to keep all of us in school despite the poor governance system whose priorities are different hence i felt a need to advocate for budget allocation to family planning services so that every child is planned for by the family.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

Am the programs officer Policy and governance where am in charge of budget advocacy for SRH services. under a program branded as NIYETU, i have personally reached out to build the capacity of District Advocacy Networks which comprise of community based organisations, youth groups from the informal sector and also reached out to build capacity of elected youth leaders in Local Governance and Budget Advocacy with bias to SRH services and commodities that need increased budget allocation

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

Using the data collected from "Youth Go Budget" app, i aspire to develop and document digital stories collected from the field as one of the evidence based advocacy tools to justify the need for further budget allocation to SRH services in my home country. we shall work with the community Journalists to ensure that the collected stories are package enough to bring out the reality on ground and share them with duty bearers, policy makers, social and mainstream media platforms .
