Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I am a media entrepreneur, running "By Ntha Media". We have shared stories on family planning, among other social causes we champion to our audience with a subscription of 7,000 people (www.byntha.com), near 40,000 followers (social media) and a reach of over 10 million (TV) nationwide.

Our goal is to create digital content that resonates with the Youth and millennials for the sake of inspiring and informing young activists to champion policy change. This means that our content is fast, precise and informative.

We work with creatives from the Nyenyezi ya ku M'mawa collective, training them on their arts to channel their talents into championing causes close to their hearts.

We aim to be a bridge between creatives and the development/private sector through the production of media.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

I stumbled upon family planning in my demography class in college. I knew myself to be good at math, and tried to sign up for the every mathematical course I could find - Landing me in Population Studies. My four years analysing the impact of socio-economic variables on family planning made me aware of problems existent in my country. My passion grew. I noted that some of our policy was underinformed, and wanted to do my part contributing to relevant assessment of the findings that are existent.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

As the operations director of By Ntha Media and the Nyenyezi ya ku m'mawa collective, I am in charge of ensuring that we are creating relevant content and our message is delivered to our intended audience.

In 2018, I facilitated the collection and editing of stories for the youth plenary at the ICFP in Kigali, Rwanda. I was also a writer on the Sex'O'Clock Newsletter.

By Ntha Media's areas of interest include SRHR, Family Planning, Womens Empowerment, LGBTQIA+, GBV &all minority issues.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I, alongside By Ntha Media, will use the "120 under 40" platform, working with the NYKM Collective, using the grant to go out for community outreaches and collect more life-changing stories via video, written and audio. We will use those stories to create compelling films (documentaries) and digital media content, for the sake of raising awareness; for more needs-based approaches in informing policy.

We will also seek to learn from like-minded individuals in the social enterprise sector.
