Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

My passion is to ensure women have all kind of health care information to make informed choices.I am involved in teams to increase awareness of different groups in order to enable them to rightly progress through different stages of growth, e.g; from childhood to puberty to young age to marriage to pregnancy to child birth & to family planning with age specific accurate information.I always work for designing, developing & implementing different SBCC materials for awareness of the audience regarding all the health care services including family planning.I am an expert on media planning.I always keep constant followup with media agencies to get best media plan with best utilization of budget considering target group, time slot mix, channel mix, program mix, reach-frequency, GRP data etc.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

I have seen many girls drop out of school, get married at an early age resulting in many cases of deaths during delivery. A helping hand was in our house who wanted to study & my mother got her admitted to school with me. But her mother took her away from our house forcibly & got her to marriage. A few days later we came to know that she died while giving birth to her child. This incident made me decide to work to create awareness on family planning so that people can make informed decision.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

I was involved in production of the 3 TVCs & 3 RDCs for the Rainbow Clinics under the Urban Primary Healthcare Service Delivery Project to promote health, family planning, child & mother health care issues.I was also involved in the production of a video documentary on mother & child health under the Income Support Program project. The entire production was done under my direct supervision.Various media plans for promoting the messages and materials are also done under my supervision.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I hope to influence a significant increase in Family Planning dialogues among the eligible couples, in-laws and community leaders. I do and will continue to do advocacy with the relevant stakeholders to develop more user-friendly family planning clinics. I would also undertake a PhD degree with a thesis on how to promote the use of male methods to significantly share the burden of family planning.
