Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I have supported Govt of Bihar in PPFP/ PPIUCD initiatives which resulted in increased IUCD acceptance rate from 2% to 14% in four years . I also helped the state in capacity building of health care workers in IUCD insertion and family planning counseling. I have technically supported labor room and OT staff in implementation of infection control practices successfully. In my allotted area of Bihar 104 health facilities are saturated with trained manpowers for family planning counseling and PPIUCD insertion.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

India is a country with huge population and struggling to stabilize it. Unplanned pregnancies are contributing not only to high TFR but also poor health of mother and child. These reasons made me decide to work in the domain of family planning. Planning for the right size of family is a basic right of the woman and my passion is to empower woman to execute this rights.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

I display leadership by capacity building of my team member to facilitate implementation of quality PPFP program by by public health service provided. I supervise my team for delegated responsibilities for proper implementation of assigned activities.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I will use that platform to build my capacity to work more efficiently in family planning. I will network with other family planning expert to share and learn from them. I will use this amount to use on research for family planning client perspectives and barriers to use it. So that we can develop customize interventions to address them.
