I provided family planning information to women seeking prenatal care at Kicukiro Health Center, where I conducted a session on Family planning education every Tuesday , and thanks to that ,more than 100 women started using Family planning methods. I worked with Local authorities in Kicukiro districts to sensitize the community about family planning, through campaigns and community meetings where more than 50 women were impacted and are now using family planning.I reached out over 200 women and men with family planning information and services, through exhibitions and campaigns. I have been impacting Dukataze girls by providing them with proper information on Family planning, advocating for their unmet need to increase access of family planning services in youth friendly centers.
Growing up in a country where many people lack proper knowledge about family planning and access to contraception, I have seen and experienced the consequences of not using family planning. Looking at those unhealthy and malnourished kids due to their parents inability to offer them basic needs like food, shelter, clothes, education, etc ,really broke my heart. As woman I couldn't stand it, I committed myself to be a family planning activist so that I can contribute to my country's development.
As the head of the learning center for health and rights , where young people come to read books related on SRHR and do their researches.I organize and facilitate training, dialogues, discussions and debates that take place there, with aim to engage and empower young people in addressing major SRHR and Family planning issues.
As a family planning specialist ,I ensure the team work on a daily basis and motivate peer educators, who work directly with beneficiaries to improve their lives.
- I would use that platform to reach and inform Rwandan population about Family Planning and its benefits, to build the capacity and strengthen knowledge of Family planning seekers and health care providers.
- I would use the 1000 $ grant to start making tutorial videos and hacks to teach about emergency contraceptives (condom, morning after pills) that can save the lives of many . Also Talk about crucial Family planning issues to raise awareness for further advocacy and interventions.
