Amb Inalegwu Frank Uji is an agent of change and advocate in young people making informed choices about their Reproductive Health Right, actively involve in issues that concerns their health in the communities. – Gilbert O. Ukpoju, Board Chairman at Society for Life and Human Development Initiative
Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I have interest for change and I volunteered for the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigerian and trained with Support from Pathfinder International. Since then, I organised meetings with young people and have been part of training and community dialogue including monitoring of Adolescent reproductive Health Services in my communities of focus. I saw it that I have a role to play in helping other young people, women learn more and contribute to the change they want. From our approach;
36 Centers open for services
1830 young person trained and support for youth friendly services
10 community centres with quality control and services.
Community youth centres named as "Youth Embassy" -youth place where young people discuss peer to peer and with support of service provider

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Women are not always involve in decision making, only to follow every decisions without question on Sexual and reproductive Health Right and choice. Inadequate information and young people have unmet need of Reproductive health and right and barriers to quality health services remain high. So using local languages and following up with advocating for quality services and men's involvement was my approach. I am not left out as this affect my directly and indirectly as I grow up

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

During our focus group discussions, we learnt that communities will not like us talking about Reproductive health and less on contraceptives. I took it upon my self and lead the team to where we engaged community into program activities through men's involvement. Another example was when I used "for us not without us". A meeting for women and young persons to learn how they can be involve in issues that concerns them

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

This will go along to support the work in community advocacy, monitoring service delivery and giving our women and family the best Family planning services.
