Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

My contribution is widely towards Education and awareness especially among young people and special groups. Groups that have not been given attention like injecting drug users and sex workers who definitely need family planning. Drug users may not be people that anyone can freely interact with especially with the fear of being robbed or harmed. But I mapped their sites and brought myself to their level, made them my brothers and sisters so they trusted me.Then it was time to educate them! Drug users have sex for numerous reasons including in-exchange for drugs, for money along the beach, for food e.t.c.They never visit facilities for health care. After Education, I partner with Government facilities to come administer the methods to them with emphasis on long term. I also do social media.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Loraine was my high school met that got pregnant anddropped out, got married.I always wondered then, couldn't she have done anything to prevent that? Even withdrawal!I got very curious in knowing how to prevent that and slowly I become passionate. But I really thought and felt sad that then we were powerless. With no information, nobody to even lie to us that we can jump out when he is just about to ejaculate!Seeing Loraine's dream of becoming a pilot down the drain was sad.I decided to do something

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your family planning efforts, and what have you done to overcome it?

Family planning hasn't been accepted as a social norm yet in my country.Religious leaders and even politicians do not really support the agenda.young people themselves do not also see the need to really be on contraceptives since some do not have families yet.As we do our Education and awareness, its always not a smooth road. The youngest mother in Kenya is 9years old!

What is your (country/region/city)’s biggest challenge in family planning, and how can it be addressed?

My country still faces high unmet need for family planning. While rates of teenage pregnancies are high in the country, commodities are not always found in the health facilities. We do awareness but people do not always find the commodities in the health facilities, its the stock-out song always. Our counties should allocate sufficient budgets to ensure enough supplies for the people

What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

I wish to see a nation where girls and women are family planning rock stars! Meaning they have the power in their hands. Where everyone has the right knowledge around family planing and not simple myths. That young people prioritize health too not forgetting policies that are supportive to the agenda.
