family planning by raising awareness to the general population in all provinces of Rwanda asking them to keep small families. the CPR for Rwanda is 53% with 48% of married women. 5000 FP bookles in Kinyarwanda . TFR to 4.2 children per woman 2015. – Emmy Gashumba, Researcher at CIEDEP
Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

Trained About 3000 persons in Family planning issues and Behavior change.
Writing and Distribution of 5000 booklets on family planning in various places including schools.
Considerable reduction of TFR from 5.6 to 4.2 children per woman.
Population and family planning messages conveyed through media where by more than 70% of the general population got the message.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

The Rapid growing of population in Rwanda as well as its density and size gave me facts that, there should be a need to have strong family planning strategies to much with economy and what it costs to attain quality life, health and good education for the Citizens of Our Country.
My previous experience from National population Office geared to keep with the field of population and Family planning as well as Research.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

Experience of Coordinating family planning as an Advisor and Advocate. Management skills and team work to be able to get solutions to problems, Listening others Ideas , and let others have their say /opinions.
Planning, organizing, timely activities, Monitor the activities. Training of Faith based leaders, district health staff, community FP counselors and others.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

Start a Project activities related to Raising awareness on Sexual reproductive health and importance of Family planning issues in Schools.
Using Media Drama Series to convey the message on Both Radio and TVs.
Competitions and Wards on Question /Answer on FP issues.
