Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

My contributions are to educate people mainly the young from primary and secondary school about family planning and use of different contraceptive methods, As medical student, i deliver family planning to the people searching for heath facilities. And i also educate people in their living village about family planning and use of contraception. There is also an advocacy made through rwanda village concept project, to deliver condoms in privacy to the university student for free in order to reduce unwanted pregnancy.
As achievement, there are a big improvement in good understanding about family planning and use of family planning which lead to the health improvement . like reduction of girl who leave their school because of pregnancy, reduction of divorce because of many children.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

I prefer to concentrated on family planning because there was high misunderstanding about family planning or no news about it among young people. And people get trouble with life mainly children because of many children that they are not able to manage
And i want to make a change which can lead to the welfare of people beginning to the young as future parents.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your family planning efforts, and what have you done to overcome it?

The biggest challenge is that most of people have fear about contaceptive methods, saying that they can get many side effects which can lead also to cancer, infertile....
To overcome that i assured people that, ther are some side effects but not very fatal. And tell them , if you someone is using any contraceptive method and feel any change ,better to consult health care where they can see the problem and if possible change the method.

What is your (country/region/city)’s biggest challenge in family planning, and how can it be addressed?

In Rwanda as my country and as is one in developing country there is many challenges about family planning.
The biggest challenge is lack of skills i mean information about family planning. Meaning low education
To address this challenge I can do a reasearch about the challenge and the result must be published to the ministry of health MOH in order to solve it.

What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

In thi next 5 years, i want to make a change by educating people mostly young as future generation about family planning as source of well being, health. I will create club made by young people at school, at village where they can share their opinion and get information about family planning and if possible get some of contraceptive method. I would like to do advacacy to the vulnerable people like people from rural area where level education is very low. And also more that i can. I will do it.
