Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

For more than 6 years now through my organization I co-founded I have been working on providing information toward Family Planning. I have introduced a new approach of community Participatory. This approach mobilize the community to involve direct on educating others toward family Planning and linking those in need with service providers. I have developed a tool kit which support youth conversation toward family planning. The tool is titled as 6 Steps. The kit is designed to be used within unplanned settlement with limited Family Planning and SRH services and information. I have been advocating for availability of Youth Sexual and Reproductive Services. I have been advocating for the government to fulfill her commitment toward FP2020.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Tanzania is one among the country with a big rate of teenage pregnancy and STDs/HIV infection among young people. In Tanzania in-school girls are not allowed to continue with studies even after delivery. This makes many girls to drop out of school annually. According to the data available more than 23% of girls drop out of schools due to teenage pregnancy. In Tanzania there is limited information toward Family planning and other SRH information and services. This make me to work on FP

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

I believe when I inspire other to do better that is when I consider myself as a leader. I have been inspiring others to involve on what I am doing, I have been leading by example. I have been able to inspire and mobilize a strong network of community activist who are providing information and linking those in need with service providers. Currently I am working with more than 360 youth are Facilitators all over Tanzania. I have been showing them by example on can the work in their community.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I will use that amount to strengthen the capacity of ready established network of community volunteer facilitators who are providing family planing and SRH information and linking those in need with service providers within their community. I will use the money to train them on a new approach of story telling during community based activities.
