Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I have been serving as Reproductive Health and Family Planning (RH & FP) services provider and training expert for more than decade. 70% of my time, I am engaged in field with the Service providers throughout the country to facilitate and train them on FP and safe motherhood. I am proud that I have trained more than 1000 Service Providers are now competent and able to provide quality FP services individually. I am working to change behavior of service providers for sustainable impact.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

After finishing my MBBS,I joined a Public Health Hospital.I referred some patient’s,family & friends for FP services.I was surprised to observe that many service providers have lack of knowledge on FP & avoiding to provide FP services.This incident provoke the need of serving those high risk unprivileged people &I joined an organization which was providing RH&FP services without discrimination.I willfully decided to join training team where I can utilize my skills & expertise to serve community.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

Switching career from general practitioner(gynecologist)to FP service provider was big challenge.Even I faced resistance from close network(family& friends).Slow career growth &lesser financial benefits were their argument.Along with this,training of mid-level providers was biggest challenge to improve their attitude towards high quality services of FP,but I overcome all the challenges &focused on my training activities &positive attitude for bringing positive change in community

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

This would be a great source of motivation and example for me, my colleagues, my trainee service providers, as well as for my organization. I believe in never ending work, this will recognition and support my decision as FP trainer paint me as role model for new comers, who want to switch their career in FP. I will use this award money for update my knowledge through selected courses and transfer received information and best practices of RH & FP through training's.
