Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I'm a young SRHR/Family Planning Service Provider and Advocate, in the past two years I have been working with Reproductive Health Uganda as a Medical Student For Choice Team Leader Under She Decides Project.
With my team we have empowered young people to demand and take up integrated SRHR/Family Planning services.
The Project have built a cadre of over 55 Peer Educators, 3500 young people have been empowered to make healthy Sexual and Reproductive choices. We have provided over 49675 Short and Long term Contraceptive methods.
As She Decides Team Leader with my team we ensure that young people receive information on how to prevent unintended pregnancy and reduce unsafe abortions by ensuring the availability of contraceptives and widening the contraceptives options to young people.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Imagine if everyone was empowered with information and services.
Lack of access to safe, effective contraceptives among young people at the university has resulted into unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortion, failure for young girls to complete education.
As a young leader and keen person who is passionate about FP and health of young people. I decided to advocate for change and provide access to high-quality family planning & SRHR services and information for all youth, girls, and women.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

I like to be part of the solution at all times. I am committed to building something larger and am someone who puts a side personal gain for the better well-being of the group.
As a Team leader for KIU MSFC She Decides Project I have led trainings and empower peer educators on SRHR/Family Planning, to enable them give SRHR information and FP services to young people.
On Advocacy university officials allowed Sexual and Reproductive health peer education and FP provision program at campus.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

This will provide me a unique platform to share best practices and learn from other leaders especially success and challenges, develop new strategies and network.
Many young people are comfortable using technology as part of their healthcare visits especially when addressing sensitive issues. So I hope to develop a Phone application as an effective medium for delivery of SRHR information and FP interventions in an efficient, organized and effective manner. We shall also train Peer Educators.
