Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

90,000 young people completed a quality assured Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) program (delivered by volunteers, staffs and partners) by type (in/out of school). Moreover 67,500 (75%) of those who completed CSE program increased their SRHR knowledge and their ability to exercise their sexual rights. Around 5.9 million people reached through multimedia channels (radio and traditional media, social media, website and mobile technology). A total of 980,770 services were received by young people during 2016 from FPAN static, mobile, associated and CBDs clinics. These services included contraceptive services, gynecological, STIs/RTIs, HIV, abortion, obstetric etc. 88 youth information center (YIC) s has been upgraded and strengthened by FPAN in 2016.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Family Planning Awareness program through peer group mobilization and youth led initiative to ensure universal access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in community level attracted myself to be passionately involved, when I was participating Friday Class Session related to Family Planning Program in my school where reproductive health issues were not the part of discussion in our regular in-person sessions taught by school teachers.Curiosity to family Planning became my passion ever.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

I had implemented the very new and innovative adolescents and youth project “Promoting the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Young People in Nepal” as a project coordinator in 2015 to solve and eradicate the concurring issues related to adolescents and youth of hard to reach areas of Nepal. In the project period of June 2015 – Dec 2015, altogether 11738 adolescents were trained by their peer educators on Adolescents SRH in two selected hard to reach areas of Nepal.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

However, still there is considerable work to be undertaken for effective implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education(CSE) for the adolescents and youth in schools and out of schools. I will further expand and strengthen its advocacy work on improvement of CSE for school and out of school adolescents and youth. I am committed to make arrangement to provide CSE education to 93,000 adolescents and youth within a year in 2018.
