Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

As a volunteer peer Educator, i reached a total of 16,000 community members of Mayuge district with information on family planning through our information & sensitization which increased knowledge and influenced positive change in practices & attitudes towards family planning among people.
As a youth researcher ,I carried out research on availability, accessibility and usability of family planning in eastern Uganda, findings to advocate for better service delivery in government funded health centers which increased local government support & supervision to ensure family planning services were up-to standard.
As a trainer4life,I mentor young educators across Africa to empower them with skills & knowledge on how to effectively deliver sessions & change attitudes towards family planning.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Being a born of a polygamous family, I had first-hand experience of the challenges families and communities face due to poor family planning.Apart from it being a cornerstone to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,I wanted share my resources in bid to address the barriers to usage, availability and accessibility of FP in local communities for better health, education, social & economic development of my local community.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

Beside mentoring educators under several partners to equip them with skills & build their confidence to deliver family planning sessions that inform & influence change in attitudes & behaviors regarding family planning,I conduct advocacy at both district & National levels for improved service delivery in communities. This aims to increase youth & adolescent involvement in policy formulation and budget allocations on family planning services at government funded health centers.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

i will build partnerships & network with FP champions, share & learn new techniques, skills, innovations & trends in family planning across the world which will greatly enable me improve my work of empowering communities with information & skills on FP.
i will use the $1000 to purchase a movable public address systems and 2 basic radio kits needed to set up 2 community radios in Rural Kamuli to facilitate dissemination of information & used as platforms to clarify myths on FP.
