What sparked your passion for family planning?

Studying in an all girls school and I college I was much bothered by the shame associated with words like vagina, periods and sex. It stepped up further as I began working with children, where I saw the onset of puberty put even the most outspoken girls into a shell and took our boys to the other end of sexual curiosity and excitement which was detrimental as knowledge was gained from pornography. A combination of such incidents sparked my interest in reproductive and sexual health.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

As a leader of our Reproductive Health based programmes, I ensure a 'no complacency' motto among the facilitators. Also, I firmly believe in adapting to the needs of the community we serve, we train our facilitators to respond to the needs of the beneficiary group instead of pushing our own agenda, therefore, at any given point of time, our curriculum will always be in an evolving stage.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

Considering that I work in a startup, we're always facing budgetary constraints, so:
- Me becoming a winner of 120 under 40, will definitely add more credibility to my work and organization and will help us connect with more people and organizations who are in a power to support us.
- The grant will be used to lead workshops with 500 rural girls to understand their Menstrual Cycle and Fertility chart a lot better
