Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I am dedicated to increasing attention and awareness on how family planning can help overcome chronic food security in the Sahel region of Africa. I have co-founded and lead operations of the OASIS Initiative, a project of University of California, Berkeley. I speak on this topic internationally, including at the U.S. State Dept as well as OASIS' Sahel Leadership Program. The SLP is building a critical mass of family planning champions across the region who are promoting family planning and adolescent girls education for development in the region. This year, I am formalizing a partnership with University of Niamey to launch a Center for Women's Health and Empowerment with a special focus on developing local expertise in family planning.
