What sparked your passion for family planning?

Twenty years ago I went through the most heart wrenching experience of watching my mother through an inevitable transition after braving HIV .I was only seventeen thrown into oblivion and hopelessness. Life without my Northstar was unbearable. I am extremely privileged to be following my passion borne out of a tragedy. What a sense of relief to know that advocacy and championing on contraceptive use reduce Preventable Maternal mortalities by about 40%. In essence contraceptives is life saving

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

Through improving data generation and utilization I projected the need to improve uptake of immediate post-partum family planning as opposed the conventional outreaches this increased the uptake by about 15%.
Improved Reproductive Health Financing through development of costed work plan led to allocation of funds to support key various activities in the County
Procurement of Family planning equipment
Advocacy on AYSRH needs through the county to allow flexible hours at the facilities

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

To improve uptake of immediate PPFP as a high impact intervention I shall use solar charged radios for running PPFP messaging in the local dialect for 24 hours in 55 high volume sites occasional breaks where the Nurses can share and carry out group counselling before going into one on one counselling for service delivery. This will make it easy for the nurses to offer counselling as the clients will have accessed information. Its against the background of severe Under staffing in Facilities
