What sparked your passion for family planning?

The prevalence of unintended pregnancy among adolescent girls due to poor sexual reproductive health information and use of modern contraceptives is a major issue among adolescents in Nigeria. Mostly, girls suffer the consequences of unintended pregnancy and they might forfeit their goals and aspirations. There could also be death from unsafe abortion. What can be done to enable a girl-child to enjoy her sexual dreams without altering her goals? Modern contraceptives remain the solution

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

1. Delegating roles according to strength and weaknesses of team members. Also, encouraging the use of self-capacity building strategies by giving innovative tasks to bridge weaknesses
2. Continuous feedback to all team members on tasks accomplished and ensuring thoughtful actions are collectively taken to sustain or improve performance.
3. Working closely with Government Agencies and other implementing partners to sustain quality FP services for adolescent girls in the implementing states.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I will use this platform to continuously advocate for contraceptives uptake among adolescent girls and sensitize more gatekeepers and opinion leaders. The grant will be used to support life-building skills program for adolescents, using reputable adolescent girls as mentors to their peers and empowering them with self-sustainable vocational skills. This will improve the self esteem and economic status of these girls, thus reducing their vulnerability to unintended pregnancies.
